Grandmaster is a collection of watches inspired from the game of Chess. It has its origin in India and strong fan following with Indian youth. The chess pieces and the moves inspired us to create a beautiful collection of six watches. This differentiated design story 'THE GRAND MASTER' required, use of authentic material like wood & marble, which would make these watches different and unique in the world of watches.
We got inspired from King, Queen, Bishop, Knight and Rook and conceptualized a very contemporary & young collection which takes subtle hint from pieces, their moves and strategy. Outcome of the project is in the form of stunning watches which are made in steel, tungsten, titanium and wood. These watches have set a benchmark for design and have an extraordinary sales figures to justify the impact.
I took inspiration from the ‘Queen’ of the chess, with its unique slender curvilinear figure and very iconic faceted crown, Queen is probably the most powerful piece in the chess.
It has this extraordinary capability which can take her in any direction and sabotage the opponent.
Entire watch concept has its association with chess strategy and it tries to emotionally connect people with this intellectual game.
