Lack of good/viable lighting resources, high infrastructure & electricity cost and very high maintenance cost, gives rise to a new design opportunity for creating an innovative, cost-effective, playful lighting solution which will facilitate rural kids to read and write.
The Product is a night glow plastic panel. Plastic panel is made of luminescent pigments which can retain many hours of glow in the dark. As darkness starts approaching, plastic panel will start glowing. This panel has to be slided down below the page to facilitate night time reading of books. The given proposal has a 'play-value', mass manufacturability and high energy efficiency.
Plastic panel gets charged in the sun light and will provide consistent glow for 4-7 hours, depending on the luminous material used. Luminescent plastic material, which is readily available with various plastic manufacturers including GE plastic, Honeywell, Dupont has various strength and colors
